On Thanksgiving, my youngest son and I had the honor of helping to prepare 400 meals for our local community. The person behind the drive was a former single dad who went through our shelter program who saved up his own money to buy the materials, cook, and serve the meals out of restaurant he is now trying to purchase. He wanted to pay forward what our community had done for him by giving to our program.

Today, please consider giving whatever you can to help more families like his make their dreams come true. Every family should have a home for the holidays. Any and every amount helps to end family homelessness.

THANK YOU!

Tara.

Working across sectors ensures that our collaborations to end family homelessness have long-term success! An example of one of these projects is upcoming municipal support and funding for our Intake Coordinator, who decreases the length of time a family faces homelessness by ensuring strong front-end assessment and navigation for residents.

Recently, case management for homeless prevention and stabilization was funded (in whole or in part) with the assistance of the City of Palm Bay through federal Community Development Block Grant-Coronavirus (CDBG-CV) funds made available by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development under Title I of the Federal Housing and Community Development Act , as amended.

Other municipalities have engaged around the availability of their own resources to meet their residents' needs, like Brevard County and the Cities of Cocoa, Titusville, and Melbourne. As a result, we are relocating our base of operations into a city-owned property in Cocoa and have received funding for case management and homeless prevention through the county. We are also beginning a pilot project in Melbourne to create an efficient and effective coordinated entry system with other non-profit partners.

Together, with municipal support, we can end family homelessness!
